Office Depot and the Office Depot Foundation have been honored to receive a number of important awards and other types of recognition for their contributions to the community and commitment to community investment. These include:

2012

The Office Depot Foundation National Backpack Program received the Platinum Award in the Community Relations category of the League of American Communications Professionals' 2011 Magellan Awards Communications Campaign competition and was ranked at #7 on the list of Top 50 Publicity Campaigns of 2011.

The Office Depot Foundation National Backpack Program was named a finalist in the Community Affairs Category of the 2011 PR News CSR Awards. The awards will be presented in April 2012.

In March 2012, the Office Depot Foundation National Backpack Program was named the winner in the Social Responsibility Category of the PRNews 2011 Nonprofit PR Awards competition. PR News referred to the backpack donation initiative as "an iconic corporate social responsibility program."
  ▪ In addition, the Foundation received Honorable Mention recognition in     two categories in the Nonprofit PR Awards competition. The National     Backpack Program was honored in the Media Relations Category,     while the Foundation and USA TODAY Education were honored in the     Corporate/NonProfit Partnerships Category for the their collaborative     Dream UP Career Exploration Program.

   

2011

The Office Depot Foundation National Backpack Program was inducted into the 2011 PR News Platinum PR Awards Hall of Fame.

The Office Depot Foundation was named the Best Company-Related Foundation Program in the Corporate Citizenship Category of the 2010 League of American Communications Professionals Impact Awards Strategic Communications Competition.

The 2010 Office Depot Foundation Report to the Community received a Gold Award in the Nonprofit Category in the 2009/2010 League of American Communications Professionals (LACP) Vision Awards Encore Competition.

The Office Depot Foundation was honored with the "Voices For Children Award" from the Miami-based Voices For Children Foundation for its contributions in the fight against child abuse and neglect in Miami-Dade County.

The Office Depot Foundation was a finalist in two categories in the 2011 PR News NonProfit PR Awards competition and received Honorable Mentions in both categories. The 2010 Report to the Community was a finalist in the External Publication or Report category, while the Foundation-sponsored National Disaster Help Desk for Business was a finalist in Crisis Management.

The Foundation received three awards in the League of American Communications Professionals (LACP) 2010/2011 Spotlight Awards Global Communications Competition. All three publications were recognized as being among LACP's Top 50 Communications Materials of 2010.
  ▪ Business Planning Tools for Non-Profit Organizations – Second     Edition received a Silver Award in the Book/Booklet/Brochure category.
  ▪ Rx for Recovery: Fostering a Spirit of Partnership to Help Each Other     received a Bronze Award in the Guide/Toolkit/Report category.
  ▪ The Office Depot Foundation 2010 Report to the Community received a     Bronze Award in the Annual Report category.

Office Depot Foundation President Mary Wong was honored as a recipient of 2011 Women Extraordinaire Award from Business Leader magazine in South Florida.

The Office Depot Foundation received an Honorable Mention in the 2011 PR News Platinum PR Awards "External Publications" Category for Business Planning Tools for Non-profit Organizations – Second Edition.

   

2010

The Office Depot Foundation has been honored with the PR News CSR Award in the Media Relations category for our efforts to publicize the Foundation's 2009 National Backpack Program. We were named the winner from among eight finalists in the Media Relations category. The National Backpack Program also received an Honorable Mention in the Community Affairs category. 2009

Recognized as one of five finalists in the US Community Service Award category of the 2009 US Chamber of Commerce Business Civic Leadership Center Corporate Citizenship Awards

Received a Florida Governor's Hurricane Conference Award for disaster preparation, relief, recovery and rebuilding efforts

Recognized with the Association of Washington Business Award for contributions in the state of Washington, particularly backpack donations

Recognized with a resolution of appreciation from the Texas House of Representatives in recognition of efforts to assist the Houston area following Hurricane Ike

Recognized with a proclamation from the City of Delray Beach acknowledging Office Depot as "A Most Valued Corporate Partner" in appreciation of the Company's and the Foundation's ongoing support for the community

Recognized by the School Board of Palm Beach County for the Foundation's support of the William E. Dwyer Awards event and ongoing commitment to backpack program

Received an Honorable Mention (one of only nine finalists) in the Media Relations category in the 2009 PR News NonProfit PR Awards competition

In the 2009 League of American Communications Professionals Magellan Awards Competition for Communications Campaigns, the Office Depot Foundation National Backpack Program received a Platinum Award for the best overall campaign among large companies and an award as the Most Engaging Campaign among all entrants, and was ranked Number 1 on the list of the Top 50 Communications Campaigns of the year

In the 2009 League of American Communications Professionals Spotlight Awards Competition, the Weekend in Boca II White Paper, "The Business of the Civil Society Sector: Taking Care of Community," won a Platinum Award in the "Article/White Paper/Speech/Presentation" Category and was ranked 20th on the list of Top 100 Communications Materials of 2009. The Office Depot Foundation 2008 Report to the Community received a Silver Award in the Sustainability and Community Reports Category, and also received a Silver Award in the "Most Improved" Special Achievement Category

   

2008

The Office Depot Foundation 2007 Report to the Community, "A World of Possibility," was named the best External Publication in the 2008 PR News NonProfit PR Awards competition.

In the League for American Communications Professionals' 2008 Spotlight Awards Print, Video and Web Communications Competition, the 2007 Office Depot Foundation Report to the Community received a Silver Award, while the Foundation's website received an Honors Award. The Report to the Community also received a Bronze Award in LACP's 2007 Vision Awards Annual Report Competition.

Mary Wong was honored by Dress for Success Worldwide for her leadership in corporate citizenship.

The Office Depot Foundation was named the Outstanding Philanthropic Foundation by the Palm Beach County Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. The award was presented during the organization's 23rd Annual National Philanthropy Day celebration.

   

2007

Office Depot was named to the 2007 Companies That Care Honor Roll for the fourth consecutive year, in part due to the strength of the Office Depot Foundation's initiatives.

A statement commending the Office Depot Foundation's National Backpack Program was read into the Congressional Record by Congresswoman Diane Watson (D-Los Angeles).

Office Depot Foundation President Mary Wong received the 2007 Leadership Award from the National Foundation for Women Legislators (NFWL) in recognition of the role that the Foundation's National Backpack Program plays in helping children succeed.

The Communications Campaign surrounding the 2007 Office Depot Foundation National Backpack Program received a Gold Award in the League of American Communications Professionals 2007 Magellan Awards competition for publicity campaigns. The initiative was named to the list of the Top 50 Publicity Campaigns of 2007.

The 2007 Office Depot Corporate Citizenship Report received a Silver Award in the League for American Communications Professionals 2007 Spotlight Awards competition for print, video and web communications and was named to the list of the Top 100 Communications Materials of 2007.

The Office Depot Foundation website received a Silver Award in the League for American Communications Professionals 2007 Spotlight Awards competition for print, video and web communications and was named to the list of the Top 100 Communications Materials of 2007.

Office Depot was inducted to the Florida International University Torch Society as a Gold Flame member.

Mary Wong was honored as the recipient of the Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce Successful Women in Business Diamond Award.

The Office Depot Foundation was honored at the Association of Fundraising Professionals/Palm Beach County Chapter 21st Annual National Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon. The Foundation was nominated by Bethesda Hospital Foundation for being an Outstanding Philanthropic Foundation.

Office Depot was named to the list of 100 Best Corporate Citizens for 2007 by Corporate Responsibility Officer Magazine.
